I've taken a simple I-IV progression and spiced it up with some nice chromatic chords that ascend to the first inversion of each chord. My advice for overdub parts for this example would be to use voicings on the top four strings or to use dyads and double stop lines that aren't too full harmonically.
Of course this is your exercise not mine, take it where you want it to go!
