Watch the The Whole Fretboard: Minor Pentatonic online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Power Play: Minor
In this solo sample you are listening to me play a possible 5 minor pentatonic scale shapes across the whole fingerboard so that I can flow between shapes and positions. When the key changes I'm trying to gracefully and seamlessly change into the new key without shifting position. Once I have entered the new key I am free to go where the muse takes me. Playing through my improvisations in a linear fashion, allows me to express my ideas with more flow and freedom. There is absolute power in the ability to improvise in position but ideas are easier to express when there are no restrictions. The fretboard is my horizon so let’s take a look at the landscape and see what I chose to say with my fingers.
