Watch the Playing In Position: Blues scale online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Power Play: Dominant
In this first blues scale performance you'll see and hear me improvise four, 8 bar solos using the 6 note blues scale over each of the altered dominant chord vamps, all in one position on the fretboard.
I’ll be improvising using the D blues scale over D7#9, E blues scale over E7#9, F# blues scale over F#7#9 and A blues scale over A7#9. All in one position on the fretboard. Don’t worry you’ll be given more assignments in a moment!
Check out my solos and make sure you hear where each 8 bar section begins and ends. There is no shame in having to count the bars if you aren't used to hearing them. See if you can hear the key change too and identify the blues scale patterns I'm using for each key.
