Watch the The Whole Fretboard: Major Pentatonic online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Power Play: Dominant
In this solo sample you are listening to me play my 5 major pentatonic scale shapes across the whole fingerboard so that I can flow between shapes and positions. When the key changes I'm trying to gracefully and seamlessly change into the new key without shifting position. Once I have entered the new key I am free to go where the muse takes me. Playing through my improvisations in a linear fashion, allows me to express my ideas with more flow and freedom. There is absolute power in the ability to improvise in position but ideas are easier to express when there are no restrictions, the fretboard is an open road, let's spin the wheels a little.
