Watch the V - II - I - IV Mixolydian online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Modal Expose

This is a really simple and groovy E mixolydian progression. E9 is the V chord that we are playing in the opening measure. You'll notice that I'm adding some percussive scratch rhythms in with my full chord right hand technique. If you'd like to work on the groove and rhythmic aspect of this before diving in to the full progression, pull up the track and just jam the E9 chord over it. When you are ready add in the next chord and so on.

I don't think any of these chords will present you with a problem. The thing to watch is your timing and I'd really advocate recording your groove playing and listening back to your timing, precision and feel. The tape doesn't lie as they say! That should be the hard drive don't lie, these days!

This track is just begging for a cool overdub part. Rumor has it that YOU are the man for the job?!
