Watch the II - V - IV - I Dorian online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Modal Expose
This Dorian progression is very simple and very groovy. I dare say you guys have played over something similar before now. As you can see it's just a B minor 7/E9 groove with a couple of passing chords for extra flavor and a variation at the end of the line.
Try sliding in to the II and V chords to add some interest and don't forget to throw in some percussive scratches on these two chords.
The groove is nice and solid but try pushing and pulling the chords over the beat a little bit to change the feel from tight to slinky and back again.
Tons of room here to create another couple of guitar parts. Express the 'Rhythm Architect' within you!
