Major Scale Example 10 uses the 3rd intervals but intersperses a note in between which gives you Major and minor 2nd intervals. You simply view it as starting on a scale tone and ascending up three scale tones. This causes the first and third notes of the motif to be one third apart. Continue this pattern through the entire scale in an ascending fashion.
