In this solo the main scale we are working with is the pentatonic, both major and minor. This mixing of the two scales is a must for any self respecting rocker. It's important to know that this mixing of the scales will not work over a minor chord progression because it contains the natural 3rd which is not a very pleasant sounding note on a minor chord. We can also mix in the b5, also known as the blue note. That gives us a very interesting scale, E, F#, G, G#, A, Bb, B, C#, D. This is often called the altered blues scale.
