Watch the Jimi Hendrix online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Kings of Tone
Learning Jimi's rhythm style completely made me rethink my approach to guitar, I know I am not alone in this sentiment. It changed the way I see progressions, and the way I physically play chords and opened a world of possibilities. It took me out of the straight forward barre chord approach and replaced it with a deeper more musical sound. It also blurred the line between rhythm and lead playing. I use what I learned from his rhythm playing in solos. So did he, actually. I suggest you learn at least the first verse of The Wind Cries Mary as well as the solo. It's not easy but it is also not too difficult and sets you up for tackling Little Wing and others.
