Watch the David Gilmour online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Kings of Tone
Get ready for the space out! I love this technique that is very useful for those 60's psychedelic jam sections that Floyd were so good at. THE record for this is 1969's Ummagumma with songs like "Set The Controls For the Heart of The Sun", "A Saucerful of Secrets", "Careful With That Axe Eugene". This album also contains my favorite version of "Astronomy Domine". The album is split into two sections, a live recording and a studio recording. The live recording is one of my favorite Floyd records, the studio side is definitely for that hard core psychedelic Floyd fan. I have read that Gilmour dislikes the studio side quite a bit, he actually called it "horrible". I don't know, I kinda like it at times!
