Watch the Viewing As Relative Major online guitar lesson by Rob Garland from The Guitarist's Pentathlon

In this demonstration I'm playing D major pentatonic over the chord progression D-Cadd9-G-D. D major pentatonic contains the same notes as Bm pentatonic (D major pentatonic=D-E-F#-A-B Bm pentatonic=B-D-E-F#-A). By playing stylized licks for Southern rock or country such as incorporating hammer-on's, overlapping pentatonic runs and doublestops you can really evoke the genre.
