Watch the Over a Jazz ii-V-I online guitar lesson by Rob Garland from The Guitarist's Pentathlon

In this application I'm using the minor pentatonic scale ascending in half steps over a jazz ii-V-I progression. I begin by playing minor pentatonic based on the root of the ii chord moving up a half step (which yields altered notes b9th, b5, #5th, #9th) creates tension which then can be resolved on the I chord by moving up one more half step. Think of this application as one idea you can use to play over jazz changes that can compliment your existing jazz vocabulary.
