Watch the From The ii-iii-vi: Over Dom online guitar lesson by Rob Garland from The Guitarist's Pentathlon

Rhythmic ideas work well here. In case you're wondering how I sneaked a 4th pentatonic in there with this Jeff Beck style lick when there are only three minor chords in the key, I used Cm pentatonic because as I mentioned earlier in the course the minor pentatonic has a bluesy quality against dominant 7th chords and works well because there you get a nice rub between the b3rd of the scale and major 3rd in the chord. You could also think of Am pentatonic as having the same notes as C major pentatonic, it's relative major, but more on that later as you have your hands full (pun intended) right now with the Jeff Beck lick.
