Watch the Over a Jazz ii-V-I online guitar lesson by Rob Garland from The Guitarist's Pentathlon

For this demonstration I'm playing Cm pentatonic over Cm7, C#m pentatonic over the F7 chord and Dm pentatonic on the Bb MAJ7 chord. By moving the same melodic line or rhythmic idea through three pentatonic scales as the ii-V-I chords change, you can create tension on the V chord with altered sounds and resolve them on the I chord, without learning any new scales! Try to move through the different pentatonic shapes once you get used to the idea.
