Watch the Sweet Wife online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from Guitar Lab: Triads and Hendrixian Double Stops
This lesson focuses on your backup task in regards to the rhythmic location of your (triad) parts. Finding your spot in the groove as a backup player is as important as playing the right chords at the right time.
Many jams are spoiled by guitar players banging away at their own accord disregarding what grooves are being set up by the others backup instruments. It is crucial for you to listen to what the bass player and drummer are handing out to you.
And if you are the so called second guitar player playing next to another guitar player and / or a piano player or organ you need to find complimentary rhythms. The funk groove we'll use here is remeniscent of a Crusaders song from the late seventies.
