Watch the Piano Vs. Guitar online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from Guitar Lab: Triads and Hendrixian Double Stops
In this lesson we'll show you four different approaches to the same piano groove, each one having its own character. Sometimes I'll be copying parts of Jaco's groove, other times I'll be looking for holes to fill.
As a guitar player playing backup you need to be aware of the rhythmic groove, the harmony, the bass line, AND the melody when you're playing your triads. This can be a genuine puzzle and a small rehearsal setting is a great place to practice your triadic chops.
