Watch the Jaco's Piano Blues online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from Guitar Lab: Triads and Hendrixian Double Stops
In this lesson I'm joined by Jaco Benckhuijsen, arranger for pop and rockbands, teacher at the Conservatory in Amsterdam in The Netherlands and a great piano player. In a small setting we'll play through a blues groove to show you that "dominant seventh triads" can be put to work in smaller settings too. This improvisational style of playing is as challenging as a playing a solo, so hold on to your seat!
Another subject we'll discuss is the pitch range of the triads you are using. Generally the higher and the more you play, the more you'll be heard. The lower you play, the more you have to take int account what's happening with the bass or what the left hand of the piano player is doing.
