This lesson uses a root third sixth structure on the 5th, 4th and 3rd strings combined with the 2nd and 1st strings open. Voicing 1 is a CMaj 7/6 voiced 1 3 6 7 3. The 5 is not in this voicing as it is frequently omitted in chords (the label does not have to notate this fact). The Maj 7/6 chord is a subset of the ionian and lydian scales. Voicing 2 is a C#13#9. It is voiced 1 3 6 b7 #9. This chord is a subset of the half-whole diminished scale. Voicing 3 is a D 6/9 voiced 1 3 6 6 9. The 6/9 chord is contained within the ionian, lydian, mixolydian and overtone scales. Voicing 4 is an E6 voiced 1 3 6 5 1. This chord is contained within the ionian, lydian, mixolydian, overtone and half-whole diminished scales. Voicing 5 is an FMaj 7/6 b5. It is voiced 1 3 6 b5 7 and is contained within the lydian mode. Voicing 6 is a G6 voiced 1 3 6 3 6. The following scales apply: ionian, lydian, mixolydian, overtone and half-whole diminished. Voicing 7 is an A 6/9. It is voiced 1 3 6 9 5 and is contained within the ionian, lydian, mixolydian and overtone scales.
