Watch the One - Three Forms online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: The Golden Arp

The final inversion of the one-three forms is one of the most useful. This layout is in 3rd inversion which places the 5 on the 6th string, the root in the same fret on the 5th string, and then the 9(2) and 3 are each successively 2 frets higher. This is a very practical fingering in all positions. The only real challenge is in executing a clean finger roll between the 5 and the root. I will demonstrate a fingering option which will eliminate this finger roll.

The fact that the 5 is the first note of this inversion is musically beneficial as the 5 is a wonderful pickup note to the root as well as the 9 (2) and 3.
