Watch the Permutations of Root online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: The Golden Arp

In this lesson I will discuss shapes and how they can serve you. I'll take a 3rd inversion two-two E add 9 arpeggio and view it as two different intervals. These intervals occur as shapes on the fingerboard which I can play either as ascending or descending intervals. This is another way of viewing permutations and it has great merit as a way to bust out of the rut of playing the same sequences of notes. I suggest you study all of the intervals that exist between the notes of an add 9 arpeggio.
