Watch the One - Three Forms online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: The Golden Arp

This form of the one-three Add 9 arpeggio is in 2nd inv. It is also a very stretched out fingering which lends itself to the higher positions on the guitar. By utilizing legato slides and bends, we can expand on the possibilities with this arpeggio.
The fact that the 3rd note of this arpeggio is the root is a useful melodic tool. You can slide or bend this root up to the 9(2) and then resolve back to the root thus solidifying your melody line in terms of tonal strength.

This lesson will demonstrate fingering options regarding bending and the advantages of choosing a less common approach for developing a more legato sound.

Finally you will see rhythm guitar parts created by the inclusion of open drone strings along with fragments of the arpeggio.
