Watch the Drop 2 Voicings: online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: The Golden Arp
This lesson introduces drop 2 voicings in root position. These chords will be more guitar-friendly than the close voicings that we covered in the previous four lessons. Voices are numbered from highest to lowest in terms of pitch. This means that if we are playing on strings 1 through 4, the voice number will coincide with the string number. In this video, you will learn (and see) how to drop the second voice of the 2nd inversion close voiced Add 9 chord to produce the root position drop 2 voicing. This voicing from low to high (in terms of pitch) will be: root, 3rd, 5th, 9th. There are three forms of this chord each of which utilizes a group of four adjacent strings. Another way to perceive these voicings is to add the 9 on top of the root position major triad.
