Watch the Chord Scales online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: Dorian Dominance
This lesson reviews the concept of chord scales. In reality this entire course is based on the concept of moving each note in a formation (a chord, an interval, or a scale) up to the next note in the scale. This requires you think in a linear sense along the string axis and that you know the name of the note and the scale degree.
Chord scales are an automatic way to generate seven ideas from one because remember, each riff, chord, or cluster that you play exists in a seven note scale. Apply the principle of a chord scale and you will be presented with six more riffs, chords, or clusters.
