Watch the Open Position E Form online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: Caging ii V I
Lesson two showed the layout for the ii V I progression in the key of D utilizing the D form of the CAGED system as home base. This resulted in the information being in the open position on the fingerboard. Since the open position can look quite different than anywhere else on the neck, this lesson will present the arpeggios and scales (modes) for this progression using the E form as home base.
Example 19 shows the three chords and open position and example 20 shows the D major scale in open position. Diagrams 28 through 30 show the arpeggios and scales (modes) for each of the three chords in open position.
