Watch the Super-Locrian vs. Lydian b7 online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: ii V I Options

This lesson examines the relationship between the super locrian and the Lydian b7 modes when using the flat five substitution principle on the V chord. Both of these modes come from the melodic minor scale: super Locrian is mode VII and Lydian b7 is mode IV. Diagrams 33 and 34 show how the two modes are the same notes. How you analyze a note against a given chord will depend upon whether you're thinking off the V7 chord or the flat five sub which is the bII7.
