PRINCIPLE 47 - BLUES SOLO GUITAR
Typical traits of Blues guitar solo’s are the use of minor scales over major chords, the implied bends, double stops, common tones and the cool turnarounds at the end of each progression. Of course it goes much deeper than that depending on whether it’s traditional Delta Blues or the fusion based modern blues of Larry Carlton or Robben Ford.
I’ve mixed up the elements of Minor Pentatonics, the Blues Scale and arpeggio’s to create a focused modern approach to blues soloing. This way I can sound bluesy yet still target my ‘Sweet Notes’ to outline the chord changes. I’ve also added some nice flavours to the 12 bar blues we’ll be playing over so that you’ll have to step up your game as a blues lead guitarist.
