PRINCIPLE 34 - COUNTRY STYLE COMPING
I‘ve chosen a modern approach to Country rhythm playing for this example. Modern Country is more like 70’s /80’s rock music than it’s traditional counterpart so I wanted to demonstrate how that sounds over a progression using acoustic and electric guitar parts.
The acoustic guitar part is shadowing the electric part to some degree with a more open string sound and strumming technique. This part could prove a little challenging due to the open string voicings I’ve chosen.
The electric guitar part is picked with thumb and fingers to achieve more ‘twang’ in the sound. The voicings are cool too. In fact this progression sounds like something Keith Urban would write and play. Maybe I’ll try and pitch it to him the next time we meet!
