Watch the Rhythm Guitar Applications online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Guitar Interactives
In this section we cover 12 key principles of rhythm guitar playing and it’s stylistic approaches.
We’ll be taking a look at rhythmic feel and how to determine and play over shuffle, swing 16th or straight 8th feels.
I’ll be showing you how to create great 2nd guitar parts for recording overdubs or as a 2nd guitarist in a live band situation. I’ll be demonstrating how to find ‘The Pocket’ in a groove by using 3 distinct guitar parts that all work together seamlessly with the drums, bass and organ parts.
I’ll be showing you how to create single note rhythm lines to add pace to your musical arrangements and we’ll also cover single note riffs and chordal based rock riffs over killer backing tracks.
The remaining key principles focus on stylistic rhythm guitar playing. I’ll be showing you how to comp over studio quality backing tracks in the styles of Rock, Pop, Funk, Blues, Country and Jazz. This will give you the opportunity to learn my guitar parts and then go on to create your own unique parts over stylistic rhythm sections.
We’ll also talk about sonic qualities, the techniques, pedals and guitars used to create style specific sounds for each of the genres we cover in this section.
