PRINCIPLE 19 - MAJOR SCALE SHAPES
There are 7, 3 notes per string, major scale shapes that we can learn across the fingerboard. Each shape starts with each tone of the scale and this is a great way to see the intervals that make up each of the modes and the chords that fall under each shape.
Learn and play through all seven shapes. Diagrams are provided for all seven shapes.
The 3 note per string shapes are really great to know but I am also an advocate of the cage shapes as it is easier to see the arpeggios and chords within a four fret stretch than a scale that spans 7 frets. These four fret scale forms allow for easier fingering too, especially for those with smaller hands and fingers.
