Watch the Fusion in G online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Groove Builder

The final track in this series is swing sixteenth note shuffle over G7 for section A and C7 for section B. The first solo uses a motif out of the minor pentatonic scale which presents a little bit of angularity in the melodic contour.

I'll show you a pentatonic sub-scale of the locrian mode which enables you to slip "outside" of the tonality for melodic tension. The secret of how to "slip back in gracefully" is presented with the use of common tones and repitition.

For rhythmic restriction, I'll show you how to think 3/4 over the 4/4 groove. Solo 2 demonstrates the half-whole diminished scale as another source of melodic tension.
