Watch the Faux Disco A Go Go online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from Funk Fission

First and foremost you gotta dig the popped octaves. Though they are somewhat faked (hence the name of the riff) due to the use of the pick substituting the normal thumb slap on the lower of the two notes, the effect is present nonetheless. Watch for the unusual pitch modulation application at the end of this two bar excursion where I literally giggle the G7#9 chord into a frenzy of controlled, yet borderline spastic vibrato every time around. If you’re feeling a little crazy, try using the whammy bar for that move and really give it beating. Need some inspiration for that adventure? Check out the uber-cool four bar main riff to the Screaming Headless Torsos anthem, “Vinnie”, from the CD entitled 1995 and listen to Fuze do just that to an unsuspecting Cm7 fragment.
