Watch the Blues Scale online guitar lesson by Tom Dempsey from Fretboard Phenom

This video is a demonstration of what the blues scale is. Here we will learn the five fingerings of the A blues scale in the five tonality shapes. We'll notice that the fingering of this scale is very similar to the A minor pentatonic scale. The scale itself has all of the same notes as the minor pentatonic scale but here we add one additional note. The flat 5. This is the blue note. As you practice this try to draw upon your prior knowledge of the minor pentatonic shapes.
