Watch the Combining 3rds & 6ths online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Double Stop Chops

In real world application, you're probably going to want to combine your double stops and phrases. Musically, it's really refreshing and will give you a wide sonic palette. Articulation and remembering what shapes fit where is going to be key. Keeping your ear trained on the tonal center of the progression you are playing over is going to be key here as well.

You'll want your lines to sound melodic and also resolved once you end a phrase. Landing on a double stop that doesn't resolve to the chord tones of the tonal center is going to sound dissonant, so phrase your lines to be rhythmically interesting and melodically resolute. It's a lot to remember, but that's what separates the men from the boys, so pull up your big girl panties and let's go!
