Next up is connecting the five CAGED patterns on the top two strings (B and high E) using diatonic 3rds. Diatonic 3rds are popular in many styles of music and usually played on adjacent strings. Here's a few examples: country - "El Paso" (intro) by Marty Robbins, rock - "Brown Eyed Girl" (intro) by Van Morrison, and spanish/classical guitar music. Use index/middle finger combination for the closer major 3rds (separated by one fret) and index/ring for the wider minor 3rds (separated by 2 frets). Try doing diatonic 3rds on the D and G strings and use the same finger combinations.
