Watch the Blue Note Triplets online guitar lesson by Annie Raines from Blues Harmonica Blueprint
This time we’re starting on the bend and releasing it for a normal draw before sliding over to the adjacent note. Most people find it more difficult to get the bent note without the act of bending. The trick is to start on a stop; that is, position yourself over the note, stick the center of your tongue to your palate and inhale a little bit, creating a vacuum. Now try to admit a little bit of air without totally breaking the seal, as if you were dragging out a "khhh" sound. The goal is to supply the reed with as little air as possible from the start. Once you release your tongue, the pitch will go back to normal.
