Watch the Vibrato and Tremolo online guitar lesson by Annie Raines from Blues Harmonica Blueprint
Nothing summons up a hot July evening better than Jerry Portnoy’s slow blues instrumental "Blues for Big Nate," recorded with his fellow former Muddy Waters sidemen, the Legendary Blues Band. Jerry puts the "low" in "slow" here; his vibrato sounds like a beautiful contralto who swallowed a cello. Okay, maybe my description doesn’t do him justice. Just find the song and listen to it, and while you’re at it, listen to James Cotton doing "Blues in My Sleep," then Big Walter doing "Louise" and "Hard Hearted Woman." Get worked into a lather, rinse and repeat. Your vibrato will improve before the first of August.
