Watch the Jimmy Reed Approach online guitar lesson by Annie Raines from Blues Harmonica Blueprint
These Jimmy Reed-style solos use two different dynamics. The first chorus takes a swooping approach, sliding up to high notes and swirling down to low ones. Going into the second chorus it’s more laid back with extremely short phrases starting late in the measure, before wrapping up with a few more soaring high notes to signal the end of the song. NOTE: I incorrectly credit Rick Estrin with coining the phrase "intentional slop," though he states clearly in his highly entertaining video that he heard it from Paul Oscher.
