Watch the C Lydian 3 online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from 50 Modal Licks You MUST Know
This is the last of our Lydian licks until we get to lick 50, where I've constructed a sample solo for you guys over this Lydian progression.
In this idea I'm using scale based runs to outline the chord, repeating that idea and then descending through a C Major 7 arpeggio. Nothing creates solid melodic hooks like chord tone improvisation. The proof of that is what you are hearing in all of these ideas. Target those tones and you'll never go wrong. It's the 'Sweet Notes' approach, only i've applied it to the Major Scale Modes.
As always, try connecting the last three licks into a seamless phrase or solo over the backing track now. You could also take sections of each lick and combine them with other lick sections to create a whole new phrase
