Watch the A Dorian 4 online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from 50 Modal Licks You MUST Know
Lick 11 combines arpeggio's and scale based runs. The opening phrase of lick 11 is an A Minor triad idea which is followed by an A Dorian scale run. I move up to the 12th fret to deliver the final lines of the lick which is derived from and A Minor 7 arpeggio.
You may have noticed that I am crafting these licks from a variety of patterns on the fingerboard. I've done this in order to expand your horizons and push you outside of familiar patterns. The best way to learn a new pattern is to write your own licks from within the shape and then start joining the patterns with combined lick ideas. I hope you'll take the time to join some of these ideas I'm sharing with you and then craft some of your own personal lines.
