Watch the D Phrygian 4 online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from 50 Modal Licks You MUST Know

We are back in D Phrygian now, so Bb Major Scale. This lick utilizes the open strings with a series of pull off lines derived from the D Minor Pentatonic Scale, I even employ a blues bend to end that phrase. Be careful not to rush this, try and keep it smooth and sexy!

The remaining component of this idea is the superimposition of a Bb Major 7 arpeggio. This can be seen as a I Major 7 sub for III Minor 7. I'll be explaining diatonic chord substitutions and superimpositions in my next course so stay tuned for that.
