While there’s virtually no fingerpicking in the Beatles’ music during the band’s early years, their 1968 album The Beatles (aka The White Album) is chock-full of fingerstyle picking. What’s interesting in this lick is the tenacity of the alternating-bass pattern. It never varies, no matter whether the root of the chord is on the 5th or the 6th string. That repetition makes it almost hypnotic.
