Watch the Black Country Blues online guitar lesson by James Hogan from 50 All-Purpose Pentatonic Licks

Lick # 7 “Black Country Blues” is a tribute to all of the great rock bands who hail from the “Black Country” region of the West Midlands in England. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and the foundations of “heavy metal” can be traced to this area of mines, forges, and industry. While this lick isn’t specific to any player it’s definitely in the blues rock/early metal style. It has a Clapton feel to it as well. (Clapton also has roots in the area.) This one’s in Position III of A minor Pentatonic.
