Watch the Tremolo Picking online guitar lesson by Sonny Landreth from Slide Supernatural
One technique I like to use is tremolo picking. To do this I use the second finger on my right hand and basically move as fast as I can! In this example I am in open G minor tuning and am fretting behind the slide to get some nice chord voicings. This can build a nice musical bed for the vocals. We can use the same technique down low on the guitar. On that I’m using the edge of my nail on one side of the string and the flesh of the finger on the other side. So it makes a couple of different notes out of one string. That’s just one example of how I can use tremolo picking in a song to add some excitement and some motion, and to give it a little more dimension to the overall sound of it.
