With this piece, it's a good way to show how melody can impact harmony and rhythm using close voicings. To make this work with the right hand, you're gripping inward; you are plucking on the top two strings, with an inward motion. Your thumb is plucking normally. You want those to be even as that is at the heart of the rhythm for this piece. The whole first section of this is all fretted. I am basically holding a seventh chord, A7. I am barring at the 3rd fret with my first finger, the other notes are played with my third finger. It isn’t that difficult once you get a handle on it. Next the slide comes in for that nice big vibrato. And then you go back to the theme, but this time it goes to minor for some variation. Now I'm going to take advantage of some open strings by fretting some nice chord voicings. I’ll take that same chord voicing and slide it up a whole step letting the 2nd and 5th strings ring while I play the melody in the middle.
