Watch the Gypsy Magic: 2 online guitar lesson by Tony Smotherman from World Rock Guitar

Gypsy musicians have a huge bag of tricks to borrow from, commonly using rapid fire trills, pedal points, and long intervallic arpeggios. In this example, we're using lots of harmonic minor concepts and an interesting sweeping concept for two string arpeggios. Using long, descending harmonic minor runs is a staple gypsy lick often heard on violin. In this music, melodies are often passed down from generation to generation, but improvisation is always held in high regard in gypsy music and considered a necessity.
