Watch the ZZ Shuffle - Rhythm online guitar lesson by Jeff Scheetz from Rock Solid
In this progression we are doing a shuffle rhythm and basing it on a standard 12 bar feel. The main riff is based around a G minor with the b5 in there and I am also using the C9 and D9 chords. What you really want to work on with this one is consistency.
Some of the classic rock bands we all know and love started out as blues based bands and did lots of 12 bar stuff in the early days. Bands like Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Zep - they all went on to enjoy more "pop" and "rock" notoriety, but if you dig into their early stuff it was the blues!
