Watch the Rock Daddy - Solo online guitar lesson by Jeff Scheetz from Rock Solid
When I first started playing, one of the first players I really got into was Randy Rhoads. He played over lots of heavy rhythms like this one and his solos were always melodic and very smooth.
He also used some different scales like the Harmonic minor or the diminished to spice things up a bit. So in this solo we see the gypsy minor alongside the aeolian and pentatonic scales. Try to make the transition between scales smooth.
