Watch the Chromatic Spackle online guitar lesson by Jennifer Batten from Rock Sauce For Lead Guitar

In general you want your chordal tones and scale tones to be on the downbeats and the chromatic notes to be on the upbeats because they're not as important. Chordal tones are the most important in suggesting the harmony you're playing over, and scale tones are secondary. Chromatics could be considered as filler.
