Watch the Hell Struggle: Solo 1 online guitar lesson by Trey Alexander from Quantum Rock
Here we are going to look at some great unison bends that have a very Andy Timmons and Jimmy Hendrix feel. We will also do some staccato playing! These ideas kind of come in and out and attack, letting the rhythm breath and then sound again. Remember talking about space earlier? This is a good example of that. Instead of doing the melody right away, play on every other break. Most importantly I want you to take these licks and learn them all over the fretboard. That way you can do them in your blues and jazz playing as well as your rock playing. Towards the end of this solo we also brush over some tapping lines very similar to the ones we have already discussed in the video. The only difference in these are they have some right hand tapping combined with sliding ideas. These really give your playing a bit of a liquid sound! Now there’s one last line. This is a tricky legato line so really focus on getting it super clean. Utilize all of those cool features on the video and really have a good time.
