Watch the Latin Groove: Solo 2 online guitar lesson by Trey Alexander from Quantum Rock
Here is big distortion solo. Here we will talk mainly about the pentatonic scale. This is the main position of the pentatonic scale that most of us are used to. This scale is great for rock and blues so this will work perfect for this solo. In the beginning we start with some repeating lines and bending. We also talk about vibrato when bending. There is a lot you can say with your vibrato and it is an essential part of taking your playing to the next level. One thing that would be very beneficial to you is to listen to all of your favorite guitarists and really pick up their subtle inflections. If you really listen, things like vibrato and bending are what separates each of our favorite players and makes them unique. I will also touch base on sliding into your bends, as this is a very cool technique that really jazzes up your playing!
Make sure to check out some of the 3 octave repeating patterns as well. One of my mentors Ray Holiday first showed me these patterns and it really opened up the guitar for me. These are also very Vai influenced. I end the solo with a really cool arpeggio that follows the chords. This brings back the movement of the progression so be sure to practice those with the backing tracks!
